What is Immune System?
The Immune System is the body’s defense against infection. The Immune system attacks germs and helps keep us healthy.
What is the Immune system made of?
The immune system is made up of both individual cell and proteins as well as special organs, cells and chemicals that fight infection (microbes).
The main parts of the immune system are:
white blood cells
Antibodies
The complement system
The lymphatic system
The spleen
The thymus
The bone marrow.
These are the parts of our immune system that actively fight infection.
How does The Immune system works?
When the body senses foreign substance (called antigens), immune system works to recognize the antigens and get rid of them.
Lymphocytes are triggered to make antibodies (also called immunoglobulins). These proteins lock onto specifics antigens. After they’re made, antibodies usually stay in our bodies in case we have to fight the same germ again. That’s why someone who gets sick with a disease, like chickenpox, usually won’t get sick from it again.
