What is Supermoon? 

Supermoon is a natural phenomenon when the moon appears large and extremely bright compared to its normal size. So it is called a supermoon, researchers believe that during this time the size of the moon increases by about 14 percent compared to the normal size and its brightness is 30 percent more than before. And in this situation the distance between the moon and the earth also decreases. 

Why is Supermoon visible to us? 

According to the explanation in science, then the distance of Moon from Earth is about 4,06,692 km. And in the language of science , this distance is called apogee by scientists . At the same time, when the Moon and Earth come close to each other while revolving around the sun, then the distance between them is 3,56,500 km. Which is called perigee by scientists. During this, a supermoon is visible on the day the Moon and Earth are closest to each other.

When was the supermoon seen first? 

According to NASA (), the supermoon was first seen in 1979. The Astronomers at that time named it as “Peregrine Full Moon“. Later on, it got it’s name as “Supermoon“.

How to see Supermoon? 

The super moon is similar to a normal moon visible on a full moon day, the only difference is that the moon is much closer to the earth than the normal moon, due to which it appears much bigger and brighter. And you do not need any special kind of lens or any special equipment to see this supermoon, you can see this moon very easily from the balcony or terrace of your home.
